Responsibilities: Essential Physical Requirements: Incumbent may be required to spend a great deal of time on his/her feet, climbing, stooping, turning, lifting up to 50 lb. and/or occasional work in inclement weather. Must be able to travel with approximately 15% being overnight. This position requires the individual to be on-call 24/7 on a rotating basis.

Function: The person in this position is expected to install, place in operation, maintain, inspect, test, trouble-shoot and repair equipment at customer sites to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of our products to the customers’ point of use. Serves as a key point of contact and coordination between the company and the customer to meet all requirements safely, efficiently, and economically.

Discipline: The Field Service discipline within the technical function has a technician performing in the above capacities specifically for Air Liquide Industrial’s applicable equipment including oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, helium, and carbon dioxide liquid and gas storage systems; customer distribution/regulation systems; applications equipment; telemonitoring equipment; instrumentation; and FLOXAL systems including air compressors and various small on-site nitrogen generation systems. The incumbent reports to the local Field Service Coordinator. The field service technician (FST) coordinates their activities with outside service providers, customer service engineering, sales and distribution on installations and removals. All work must be performed in conformance with established safety procedures while ensuring customer satisfaction with the appearance and operation of every installation.

Progression Level: Note: Typically the “acquiring” stage represents the first 12-18 months “apprentice” role; after which an individual either progresses to the “mastering” stage or terminates employment.

Requirements:

Skill Set/Expertise

HS graduate (college, technical degree or equivalent education is preferred)
Drivers license allowing operation of a vehicle over 10,000 lb. GVW (with clean driving record)
Education or minimum of 4-5 yr. diagnostic and repair experience in some or all of the following is required: cryogencis, high pressure piping, brazing, electrical circuits (including 3 phase power), refrigeration (EPA certified in refrigerant recovery), PLCs (programmable logic controllers), and process instrumentation
Excellent written/verbal communicator; must deal effectively with internal and external customers

Skills to prioritize integrated service activities so as to maximize time spent working on equipment at customer locations
Expertise to comply with all applicable governmental and Air Liquide America policies, regulations, and procedures – knows and applies all applicable standards for good manufacturing practice set forth by the CGA, NFPA, CMA and other professional/regulatory bodies
