Bulk Driver

Responsibilities:

•Promotes and complies with Air Liquide Safety Policies and Operating Procedures.
•Places Safety above all else in the performance of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
•Completes all required training, qualifications and re-certifications and performs job tasks as trained.
•Drives Commercial Motor Vehicle (tractor-trailer) combination, usually long distances, to transport and off-load compressed and liquefied industrial gases to customers or to storage sites in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner
•Drives safely and efficiently in hazardous road conditions and utilizes his/her common sense and experience to assess the safety of road conditions and discontinues a trip when weather or road conditions warrant.
•Assesses the condition of the customer’s delivery environment and makes decision not to off-load product if conditions are unsafe.
•Reports safety issues to appropriate manager.
•Complies with all Facility, and corporate policies and procedures.
•Maintains awareness of all Federal, State and Local regulations and stays in 100% compliance with these regulations at all times. Reports suspected Regulatory violations or offenses to his/her appropriate manager.
•Keeps Equipment clean. Removes trash and debris from cab at the end of every shift.
•Applies knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways.
•Strives to meet customer expectations.
•Reports any customer complaints, to include run-outs.
•Reports all accidents, possible injuries, and driving citations immediately to their supervisor.
•Inspects truck / trailer for defects before and after trips and identifies any maintenance action that may be required and acts appropriately if action is needed.
•Operates all equipment per company and/or manufacturer guidelines to maximize equipment life cycle and minimize maintenance costs.
•Uses company required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
•Completes and submits reports as required by the DOT and/or company policy.
•Utilizes On Board Computer per instructions and makes every effort to ensure accuracy of data.
•Exercises care when using all safety accessories to include Remote Control Devices, On Board Computers and Audio/Visual Recording Devices, if so equipped.
•Periodically assist with office and shop duties when requirements exist and schedule permits.
•Abides by the terms of the Working Memorandum and Drivers Handbook.
•Maintains good personal hygiene.

•Improves operations regarding distribution efficiency, teamwork with the distribution team, accuracy of the paperwork, and support the customer at the customer site on a continuing basis
•Ensure all ALIUS policies and procedures are followed
•Use equipment per design recommendations

•Provide on-time deliveries
•Professional appearance to include full uniform
•Courteous to customers at all times
•Immediately report all customer complaints, to include run-outs
•Ensure all customer delivery tickets are accurate, signed, and provided to the customer

•Improve skills on driving and operation of delivery equipment

Employee Qualifications / Requirements:

•No felonies on record
•High School diploma
•Must be at least 25 years of age
•Three or more year’s prior experience as driver of tractor - trailer vehicles. Candidates with two years plus other relevant commercial driving experience or driving school will be considered.
•Must possess all applicable Haz-Mat (Hazardous Materials) endorsements
•Product knowledge of cryogenic, compressed and specialty gases helpful but not necessary.
•Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver’s license for state of domicile.
•Demonstrated ability to:
-Follow through on instruction
-Work with minimal supervision
-Use required computer/telephone applications

•Successful completion and passing of DOT written regulations and road tests
•Working knowledge of up-to-date DOT regulations

Physical Requirements:
•Requires standing, walking, and sitting to a moderate degree
•Basic keyboard proficiency for check-in computer, on-board trip recorder, and occasional shift confirmations if necessary.
•Able to sit nearly all day for training and office functions when required several days per year.
•Ability to lift and exert up to 20 pounds of force for connecting hoses or turning valves.
•Reasonable manual dexterity for pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls and valves
•Must pass DOT physical to include drug screen
