Responsibilities:
Operations
The primary role of the Project Manager for ALIUS is to assist in the development of project budgets and schedules and then successfully execute the projects to those targets. Projects will involve engineered systems in primary production, CO2, hydrogen, bulk supply systems and/or bulk back-up systems. Specific accountabilities include the following tasks:
•Personally comply with all corporate safety standards.
•Ensure projects are delivered effectively and efficiently, on schedule and within budget. Issue project summary reports to management.
•Apply project management practices and tools. Insure compliance.
•Assist with economic analysis of proposed projects and develop alternative solutions.
•Help develop project scope based upon input from Business Development, Commercial Management and Business Unit Technical Management. Scope is to be sufficiently detailed to produce a “lump sum” type engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) estimate from either ALPC or third party firms and avoids process or design changes.
•Create, modify, or apply existing specifications to ensure functional requirements are met at the lowest cost, avoiding purchase of over-designed equipment or excess functionality.
•Help with estimating the project cost. Where necessary obtain quotation for equipment and/or services.
•Optimize service costs by performing basic engineering calculations, design, equipment specification and procurement.
•Evaluate and award equipment and/or EPC bids, writing purchases orders as required.
•Participate in hazard and Management of Change reviews/approvals, PSSRs, SOP development and training
•Execute projects in compliance with all applicable company, federal, state, and
local regulations.
•Ability to function as construction manager on some projects as required.
•Assist with project startup.
•Provide plant and project files with required documentation.
•Manage and report status monthly on safety, budget, schedule, and quality
criterion. Meet or exceed client expectations in these areas.
•Close projects promptly.
•Participate in the evaluation and selection of third party engineering firms as preferred suppliers
Requirements:
Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise
•Able to effectively interface with technical and operations staff, at Corporate and field level.
•Knowledgeable and trained in Project Management methods, techniques and “best practices”.
•Technical knowledge of ALIUS operations.
•Ability to read and mark up P&IDs. Ability to perform basic process calculations.
•Familiarity with applicable regulations including National Electrical code, OSHA, Life Safety codes, ASME standards, and CGA documents.
•General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control systems and
operation of process equipment utilized in Air Liquide technologies.
•Ability to understand and interpret applicable specifications and standards.
•General knowledge of project management tools and techniques, such as
scope definition and changes, project scheduling, critical path, estimating,
budgeting, reporting, and cost control.
•Moderate ability to utilize MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, and
Word, and Microsoft Project software
•Familiarity with vendors and suppliers of process equipment and services.
•Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Physical Requirements
•Some travel required.
•Able to work around process equipment, including traversing ladders and stairs.
•Able to wear Personal Protection Equipment
Educational Requirements
•B.S. degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
