Energy Manager

Responsibilities:

-Master and manage existing electric energy contracts for plants in geographical area of responsibility;
-Pro-actively identify, evaluate and implement cost savings initiative and projects to meet cost savings targets;
-Develop strategies and negotiate power agreements with suppliers and/or utilities for existing and new facilities;
-Working with operations, business units and the OCC, manage electric energy contracts to ensure optimization of energy costs for plants and clusters (where applicable) in geographical area of responsibility;
-Support business development efforts through the identification of low cost supply options/areas, economic development incentives; support sales efforts related to power indexation and/or power related issues.
-Recommend strategies to mitigate energy risk;
-Develop energy cost estimates for budgeting process
-Monitor and assess the impact of market changes and deregulation efforts for geographic area of assignment
-Regulatory advocacy efforts including participation in industrial users groups. Participate in the development of corporate positions on energy issues at regional and national levels.
-Report on energy costs, cost savings initiatives/projects and trends for contracts of responsibility

Requirements:

Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise
-Project management (managing initiatives from ideas generation to full execution)
-Broad knowledge of the organization, product lines, and cost management; overall understanding of the airgases supply chain from sources to customers. Knowledge of electric utilities business model a plus
-Expertise or working knowledge of electric industry
-Ability to analyze data and develop commercial and financial strategies
-Strong communication skills for dealing with internal and external groups
-Free-thinking, innovative, and adaptable attitude toward solutions
-Ability to function in a highly decentralized team environment with minimal internal structure and extensive flexibility
-Ability to formalize business relationships and projects through the written contract; strong negotiation and sales skills
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Theoretical/practical business and financial knowledge generally associated with an MBA or comparable experience
